Several companies continue to contribute to an initiative started by the Tortola Ladies Club (TLC) which will keep the doors of the Family Support Network (FSN) open to serve the community by paying the organization's rent.

There have been six generous donors to date, but an appeal has been made for more individual donors or corporate sponsors to help fund the rent to the end of 2015.

To date, FSN has received donations from Roger Harris, Appleby Global, Nagico Insurances, Rawlinson and Hunter, Sabals Law and Tovel Investment.

FSN is a non-profit, non-governmental organization whose primary aim is to aid individuals, couples and families affected by domestic violence.

The workload for FSN increases yearly and in 2014 FSN spent a $110,000 budget for services which included feeding 242 families via their pantry of donated food, providing 410 counselling sessions for women, men, couples and children.

In addition, because they are a competent reliable service, the BVI Courts have also asked FSN to run anger management programs for 3 men and 4 women. They have also been involved with 53 protection orders at the request of the High Court.

For 2015, FSN expects the budget to increase to $150,000.

The TLC which was started in April 1981 and is a non-profit organisation, realized that FSN receives a grant from the Government for $40,000, but this clearly does not cover the cost and services of the organisation. In order to ensure the doors of FSN always remain open, TLC is organising support to facilitate the payment of the monthly rent from corporate donors and individual sponsors.

TLC is asking those who wish to donate to provide a cheque for the monthly rent of $800.00.

If any companies or individuals would like to donate to this worthy cause, they can write a cheque for $800.00 and contact Sarah Hatcher at 340 6072 from TLC to facilitate the donation.
