(PLTM) - Officials of the BVI Olympic Association queried a lane violation that occurred during the Women’s 200m heats with local athlete Ashley Kelly earlier today, August 15th 2016 at the Summer Olympic being held in Rio, Brazil.

Veronica Cambell-Brown of Jamaica, who was assigned lane 6, was seen running in lane 7, which was assigned to Kelly.

In response to the query, after deliberation, on-site Olympic officials stated that there will be no disqualification based on the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) rules and view of the video showing no obstruction or effect on cadence.

Kelly completed the race in 5th place with a time of 23.61.

Unfortunately, she did not advance to the semi-finals as only the first and second placements, along with the 6 fastest times will move forward.

Kelly’s shortcoming follows that of Elinah Phillip and Taheshia Harrigan-Scott.

Harrigan-Scott placed 6th in the Women’s 100m preliminary round, round 1. She did not advance to the semi-finals as there were a total of 8 rounds for the Womens 100m heats, where only the first and second placements of each round advanced on to the next round, along with the next best 8 times.

Tahesia ranked 37 out of a total of 67 sprinters.
