(PLTM) - Organizers of the Old Madrid Masters Football Tournament are urging individuals and teams within the Territory to get involved in this year’s competition.
The tournament, which is in its fifth year, is scheduled to kick-off from October 22nd through to the 23rd, 2016. The competition will be held at the A.O. Shirley Grounds, after being hosted at the Greenland field for the past three years.
According to Mr. Kenrick Grant, President of Old Madrid, the competition is encouraging eligible persons and teams based in Tortola and Virgin Gorda to sign up and participate.
He noted that teams are eligible to participate in the tournament as long as they meet the following conditions:
- Teams must be comprised of players 40 years and over, however, each team is allowed to field one player 35-39 years old - Teams must register at a cost of $300 for the tournament by Friday, 30th September 2016 - Each team must be uniformed
Persons who are qualified and are interested in playing, but are not attached to a team, are asked to contact Mr. Grant at 343-9216.
Registered teams will stand a chance to compete against the defending champions, Combine Stars out of Tortola.
