(PLTM) - Doyle Guishard was found guilty of robbery by Senior Magistrate Tamia Richards, in a case where the court heard evidence that his fingerprints were found at the scene of the crime. The court handed down its verdict yesterday, September 7th during his appearance at the Magistrate’s Court.

According to the brief details of the matter provided by the court, on December 16th 2010, the accused allegedly robbed a vessel anchored at Fat Hogs Bay. The boat was occupied by a visiting couple, who had proceeded elsewhere for dinner. Upon their return, they noticed their belongings where ransacked.

Police were summoned to the scene and managed to collect fingerprint samples from the television on board the vessel during their investigations.

With Guishard being a main suspect in the matter, officers collected his fingerprints with his consent. Subsequently, officers informed the court that both samples where a match, following the tests conducted. They also noted that the match specifically came from a left thumb print.

Prior the Magistrate’s decision, she noted that the court does not believe the accused, who represented himself in the matter, neither does the court believe his testimony and that of his witness in the matter were of a truthful nature.

“The court is satisfied beyond reasonable doubt that you are guilty.”

Guishard, who is currently incarcerated for another burglary offence, will make another appearance at the Magistrate's Court to be sentenced on October 4th, 2016.
