Tow Truck Driver Charged In Fatal Freak Accident

(PLTM) - Anthony Cheltenham of Long Trench has been charged with manslaughter in relation to a freak accident which resulted in the death of Phillip Emanuel Thomas, 52, of Trinidad and Tobago.

On March 22 at Fort Hill, Cheltenham was operating a tow truck which was removing a vehicle from the area at the time of the incident. The tow truck slipped and in a chain of events which followed, three men on site, including the tow truck driver, were injured.

All three were taken to the Peebles Hospital, but unfortunately, Thomas later died succumbed to his injuries.

Cheltenham appeared before the Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, October 12 in Virgin Gorda and was granted bailed in the sum $80,000.
