(PLTM) - Kenyatta Boynes, told investigators that he was with his girlfriend in Sea Cows Bay on the night of December 14, 2014 when Paul Prentice was gunned down execution style on the Waterfront Drive public road. Boynes, known as Yhats, is on trial in the High Court for the murder of Prentice and attempted murder of another young man. Detective Oneal Bakker during examination in chief today, Monday, October 17, said upon his arrest, Boynes, during a cautioned interview, gave a number of locations as alibi, including his girlfriend's home in Sea Cows Bay. Bakker told the court that Boynes denied any involvement in the murder and attempted murder. "He gave an alibi that he was with his girlfriend at the time at her Sea Cows Bay residence," the detective said. He stated that Boynes also indicated that during that time, he received telephone communication from friends. Boynes told officers that before going to his girlfriend's residence, he used someone's phone to call her while he was still in Road Town. Bakker told the court that Boynes gave a varying sequence of events from the time he woke up in the afternoon at home, where he claimed that he went to the Ghetto and stayed there until he left for Sea Cows Bay. Bakker said he then sought to qualify or disqualify those accounts given by Boynes and to this end, he physically examined his phone, but noticed that a number of data on the night of the murder appeared to be have been deleted. He said that he examined his phone because Boynes was also unable to provide the timing when those events occurred. During the investigation, police sent Boynes’ iPhone 5 overseas to be examined and have data retrieved by an expert in the United Kingdom (UK). A warrant was also obtained to be served on Flow and Digicel for call data to be retrieved from Boynes’ account. Susan Reece of Hampshire Constabulary in the UK also testified via audio link in court today. She is a digital forensic investigator, who examined the phone. Reece spoke of the process and indicated that she retrieved WhatsApp, SMS, location data, among other things from the phone. She said that a number of WhatsApp messages were deleted between December 11, 2014 and December 17, 2014. She said that calls were also deleted during that time period. Meanwhile, Bakker noted that Boynes became a person of interest in the murder after he visited Aaron's Jeep and Car Rental where he spoke with Tarik Aaron, and then later to the other person who was with Prentice at the time of the incident. The trial continues.
