Kenyatta Boynes

(PLTM) - Kenyatta Boynes described murder victim Paul Prentice as his boy, and someone who he knew never had a problem with anyone. Boynes, known as Yhats, is on trial for the December 14th, 2014 murder of Prentice and attempted murder of another young man. Today, Wednesday, October 19, the interview detectives conducted with Boynes following the murder is being shown in court before a nine member jury. In that video interview, Boynes, who appeared relaxed, also spoke of the group S.O.B, which he said means “Straps On Board", a street slang suggesting that the members of the group had guns. He said that the group of men, who he hang out with included Tarik Aaron, Mutty, Mustafa and Elvin, among others, would normally be at Aaron Car and Jeep Rental, the area where the shooting occurred. He said that Prentice and the other young man in the shooting would also hang out at the rental. Boynes told police that a few weeks before the fatal shooting, there was a confrontation between S.O.B and a group in Baughers Bay. He said that confrontation led to the men in Baughers Bay visiting the car rental and “spraying” (firing) shots with a machine gun. In the interview, he claimed that the other young man in the December 14th shooting was always in trouble and had also attacked one of the guys in the Baughers Bay group. "He had problem with all kind of people." He also referred to the young man as the clown of the group. However, he said that Prentice was not someone who he knew to have issues with anyone. Boynes told police that Paul was different from the other guys in the group. "That was my boy...He does work hard whenever he get work...We safe…Paul and me never had a problem," Boynes said. Boynes said that he never had access to a firearm and claimed that he was with his girlfriend on the night of the murder. The crown has put forward that Prentice was not the intended target on the night of the shooting, rather it was the other young man, who escaped the shooting. The trial continues.
