(PLTM) - A 2017 Fully-Loaded Hyundai Tucson stole the spotlight at the Tortola Pier Park as the Rotary Club of Road Town launched its annual raffle last evening, Thursday, October 20, expecting to raise sufficient funds to undertake a number of projects in the community in the coming months.

"The annual raffle has always been one of our major fundraising drives," said club president, Nelcia St. Jean at the launch event hosted by Myett's Chill Zone.

She added, "Some years we have raffled a vehicle and other years we have done a cash raffle. We have always been well supported by the community and this year we are also expecting good support. The community understands that all proceeds from the raffle go right back into the community."

So far the club plans to utilize the proceeds from the raffle to install more bus shelters, fulfill educational needs in the community and donate a dialysis machine to the Peebles Hospital. The club is also aiming to undertake other projects such as restoring the centennial park at the Crafts Alive Village. According to the club, there are other prizes to be won at the grand draw which will take place on Christmas Eve at Delta Petroleum at Pasea. There will also be three early bird draws where the winner will take home $1,000 and still have the opportunity of winning the grand prize of the 2017 Hyundai Tucson. The early bird draws will take place on October 29, November 19 and December 10.

To ensure the success of the raffle, the club is partnering with Delta Petroleum, NAGICO Insurance, FLOW and Tortola Auto Group (TAG).

"The All-New Hyundai Tucson is an amazing vehicle that the winner will enjoy. It is equipped with panoramic sunroof, push start, premium leather interior, front and back sensors, back up camera and smart tailgate technology," Gordon French, Senior Executive at TAG stated at the launch.

He also disclosed that Hyundai has been named by Kelley Blue Book as the No. 1 among mainstream brands for its lowest projected ownership costs.

FLOW's Commercial Manager, Ravindra Maywahlall said, "Flow is very happy to be partnering with the Rotary Club of Road Town for the second time in 3 years."

He added, "We saw the projects that our funding assisted with the last time, some of which were the three bus shelters in town, the issuance of school supplies to 400 kids and repairs to several elderly homes. Rotary's mission is very much aligned with Flow's values and as such, it was a very easy decision to sponsor this club again. We wish president Nelcia, her board and all the members of the Rotary Club of Road Town a very successful year."

Tickets are being sold for $10 each and are available at NAGICO Insurance, First Caribbean International Bank, Scotiabank, Captain Mulligans, Tortola Sports Club, Tortola Auto Group or any member of the Rotary Club of Road Town.
