(PLTM) - Residents and supporters nodded in agreement to claims made by Hon. Julian Fraser that public servants are working in fear of their Ministry caretakers.
Hon. Fraser made this statement while speaking at his town hall meeting last evening, October 20 at the Sea Cows Bay Community Center.
The Leader of the Opposition informed the attendees that he has seen first hand, persons within the service being victimized.
“I have seen victimization within the service that is unbecoming of humanity. Public servants are afraid to talk. If they open their mouths, they are sent to Siberia. This is wrong.”
Hon. Fraser noted that it is never a government's job to oppress or intimidate its workers, adding that he has been a Minister of government on two occasions and has never cared what persons said about him or took away their freedom to speak up and out about issues.
“You should never make them feel you are right in everything you do.”
He added, “The intimidation that public servants endure and the indiscriminate dismissal of people from work is unbecoming of any government that I will be a part of. It should not happen.”
