(PLTM) - The expansion project at Nanny Cay is said to be moving along on time, with provisionally plans to start construction on the first two outermost residential buildings in January 2017.
BVI Platinum News understands that the two docks for phase one of the new outer marina arrived in September, setting the tone for works and completion of the that aspect of the project by year end.
The operations at Nanny Cay account for 400 jobs directly and indirectly. Nanny Cay employs 100 staff and estimates that the completed outer marina and related amenities will create over 100 new jobs. The company has also promised that construction is expected to be sourced through local contractors.
Chief Planner, Mr. Gregory Adams had indicated previously to BVI Platinum News that the owners were following all the necessary rules set out by the Town and Country Planning Department.
Nanny Cay has stated that the proposed development expansion will serve to benefit the BVI community, Nanny Cay residents, and both marine and land based tourists.
"The new marina basin will allow for 120 additional boats to occupy the BVI waters, both throughout the in-season and off-season months."
Nanny Cay said that having additional boats in the BVI translates to more tourists, more yacht service and yacht maintenance business, more tourist related business, and more exposure to the BVI as a holiday destination and a retirement option.
