(PLTM) - The BVI national seven-a-side rugby squad traveled to Trinidad and Tobago to compete in the 2016 Rugby Americas North Sevens Championship yesterday, Thursday, November 10.

Players who will be representing the BVI are Kenrick Elton, Andre Adams, Thomas Chapman, Victor Amparo, Colin Mcdonald, Kevin Fisher, Tavod Morgan, Kendi Vanterpool, Joseph Smith, Mamoud Ahmad, Rory Thornton and Austin Keil. This year, the BVI effort was assisted by leading world rugby sevens coach, David Mays from New Zealand, who visited the Territory for six weeks to help prepare the squad.

David and BVI rugby coach Sherlock Soloman have over the past six weeks worked hard with the young athletes, instilling some basic disciplines, standards and tactics for the tournament.

Day one tomorrow, Saturday will be a tough assignment with the BVI facing Bermuda, coached by the seven’s legend Waisele Serevi at 11:28 am and the mighty Canada, containing 6 World Series players at 13:14 pm.

Games will be streamed online at http://www.rugbyamericasnorth.com/events/ran7s/#1468082018517-ec390cfe-8069
