(PLTM) - Kawa Cornwall, 33, who was facing jail time for possession of 50 grams of marijuana, was given lenience by the Magistrate's Court, presided over by Senior Magistrate Tamia Richards, who noted that she sees a change in him.

In an appearance earlier this month, following the charge which stemmed from an incident which occurred since 2014, the court placed Kawa on a 3 year bond to keep the peace. If the bond is broken, he is subjected to pay $20,000 or serve six months in prison.

The court said, “I see you trying to change and you've said you want to take care of your son. I've taken into consideration the report from the drug counsellor on your progress. You have to continue resisting temptation.”

According to court records, in November 2014 in Road Town, Kawa was observed packaging marijuana into small ziploc bags. When officers approached him, he ran and a chase ensued.

He was caught soon after.
