(PLTM) - A week long sailing course, tailored for women only, has been scheduled for the British Virgin Islands on May 19-27, 2017 by the internationally accredited Offshore Sailing School, based in Florida.

The course, which will be administered at the Scrub Island Resort, Spa and Marina, will see local women engage in two days of learning basic to intermediate skills on a Colgate 26, with the other six days geared towards learning skills to handle catamarans.

The course is catered towards advancing women from little to no sailing experience, to competent sailors capable of handling large cruising boats up to 54’.

President and CEO of the school, Doris Colgate shared that the lessons that will be taught by US sailing certified women instructors are designed to fulfill the three C’s of sailing.

“Those three C’s are Confidence in yourself, the boat and those with whom you sail; Comfort with all the factors that go into feeling at home when you sail; and Control of your sailing destiny, where you go, how you go and when you go.”

Colgate added that there is a fourth C that has to be achieved before all the others kick in, “and that is Competence, which is the focus of all that we do at Offshore Sailing School.”
