(PLTM) - The Enid Scatliffe Pre Primary School (ESPPS) is hosting an interactive parenting workshop titled, ‘Care for Me; Teach Me; I Will Learn!’ on Tuesday, November 29 at 5:15 p.m. at the Sir Rupert Briercliffe Hall.

The workshop, according to the Education Ministry, is tailored for both parents and teachers, and is geared towards building a stronger bond between school and home and to empower parents with skills to improve their children’s success.

ESPPS Principal, Mrs. Valerie Charles-Welsh said that each year it is important for a school to assess their students’ successes and make provisions for improvements.

"Our staff has decided that building a closer tie with parents can help us to improve our students’ successes. We therefore want to exercise some extra care in not only grooming our students, but also our parents who will better serve as our home-support partners," she related.

Mrs. Charles-Welsh added, “We have solicited the support of a great team from the Ministry of Education and Culture who is graciously working with us. We are especially grateful to those parents who are already on board and giving their best.”

The workshop has several planned presentations. Acting Early Childhood Education Officer Ms. Genevieve McMaster will present, “Bridging the Gap from Pre School to Pre Primary”; Education Officer for Languages Mrs. Tania March-Harris will present, “Literacy in the Home”; Education Officer for Special Education Ms. Charisse Bynoe will present, “Identifying and Assisting Young Children who have Special Needs” and Mrs. Cecily Malone will present, “Parents as Leaders of Mathematics”.

Registration begins at 4:30 p.m. and participants should be seated by 5:10 p.m. Activities will include oral presentations, group activities, and a display of students at work.

Light snacks will be available for parents and child care services will be available at $3.00 per child.

Participants are asked to bring writing materials and any electronic teaching materials used at home.

Awards will be given for ‘Class Team Spirit’, ‘Most Outstanding Hostess/ Teacher’, and ‘Class Station with Most Parents’.
