(PLTM) - Being the new Chairman of the Virgin Islands Party (VIP), Hon. Andrew Fahie said that he is prepared for the attacks which will come his way by members of the governing National Democratic Party (NDP). However, he said that it is going to be a fight.
"...My aim is to continue to do what got me here, which is to represent the people of the Territory at all times...continue to represent the people...stand up for what is right…The politics of it is that I am the Chairman now, so politics is as such where they are going to try to discredit me. I could see it coming from a mile, but it's going to be a fight," Hon. Fahie said.
When asked what would be his message to the NDP, Hon. Fahie said the VIP's eyes are focused way above the NDP.
"I don’t have to tell the NDP nothing because really and truly, my sights are not focused 100 percent on the NDP, because my bar is set higher than the NDP, because our goals are above what we are looking for with the NDP," he said.
Hon. Fahie added, "So really and truly, while they are the sitting government, and you must be conscious of that, but our goals are above them."
When asked to address the issue raised about his trustworthiness, the new Chairman said that he is the best person to trust.
"Well I don’t know any politician people say is trustworthy, so I have never seen that no where in my life. I think what happened is that there are a few persons who try to brand you, but one thing I always stated in my life and will go forward with it---to never let no one’s opinion of me become my reality," he related.
Hon. Fahie said, "I am the best person to trust. I have been battled, tested. I have seen it most and I have matured in politics to the point where I know now what needs to be done to a large extent to bring back trust into representatives."
He noted that he will be the one to bring back trust.
The District One Representative stated that he will be the person to return trust in the Territory and said that is one of the things he is vowing to do before he leaves politics.
