(PLTM) - Remedial works have finally restarted on the Diamond Basketball Court, which was scheduled to be completed and opened in June of this year.

Second District Representative, Hon. Melvin 'Mitch' Turnbull, has vowed that the project is currently his top priority.

"Complete, open, name and dedicate the Diamond Basketball Court, that is my goal number one. Here is the key for me, I know I have a job to represent the people of the Second District but that is my goal number one; if you come and say 'we have something more important', I will listen to you but that is still my goal number one," Turnbull said.

The court is among many other Basketball facilities that are in need of dire repairs across the territory.

Meanwhile, Turnbull noted that he will also be making an effort to ensure that works commence on the construction of a resource centre in Diamond Estate.

He disclosed that he has spoken to an architect in relation to two acres of land, a short distance from the basketball court which can be used for the construction of the facility.

"There is no after school programme, no community centers, no recreational facility, nothing in the area...We need to build something that will be usable, and be able to use for a host of different things at the same time," he said.

Turnbull added, "for mentorship, service organization meetings; our kids can come and play. We must do something."
