(PLTM) - Natasha Huggins, 30, native of Antigua and Barbuda, was arrested and charged for the possession of goods suspected to be stolen, after a Samsung Galaxy S3 that was reported missing, was found in her bag.

In an appearance at the Magistrate’s Court earlier this month, the court heard that the accused told officers that the item was given to her by a cleaner on her job.

As outlined by Crown Counsel Angel Flax Solomon, on May 12, Elizabeth Rhymer, a visitor to the island, who rented a room at Columbus Sunset Villas, West End, reported to officers that her Samsung Galaxy S3 smartphone was missing.

In an unrelated arrest, police apprehended a male who was driving a rented vehicle without having a license. The vehicle, which was rented in the defendant's (Huggins) name, was handed over to the dealer by officers.

The Crown noted, that the rental company then contacted Ms. Huggins to hand over items left in the vehicle, which included a Samsung Galaxy S3.

Under police questioning, the accused stated that she had not received anything from the dealer, but the item was later recovered in her bag, as a result of a search.

Ms. Rhymer was then contacted and identified her screensaver as well as providing the password to unlocking the phone, to prove that it was her phone.

It was at this point, the accused told officers that the item was given to her by a cleaner at her job, as it was left on one of the boats at The Moorings, where she is currently employed as a boat debriefer.

The accused was offered bail in the amount $40,000 and will make another appearance on February 10th, 2017.
