Where Is Your Trust?

Although many didn’t come out to share in prayer, good wishes and continued blessings for the British Virgin Islands, those who attended left spiritually filled, emotionally challenged and mentally dared to put all their trust in God.

While delivering his sermon at the second annual Territorial Interdenominational Service of Thanksgiving and Intercession, Pastor Calvin Mills of the Church of God Holiness, in the presence of the Acting Governor, local politicians and government officials, dared persons to take their trust out of worldly possessions and put them all in God.

The service, created to bring persons together to pray for the people and the government of the BVI, was held last evening, January 15, at the New Life Baptist Church.

(PLTM) - “Where is your trust? Are we trusting in ourselves BVI? Are we trusting in our diplomatic power? Are we trusting in our clout from the greenery in the treasury? Where is our trust? Our trust must be in God,” said Pastor Mills, as he was met with loud rounds of "amen".

Pastor Mills went on to note that the only time the name of the Lord is referenced is when persons are in trouble, adding, “It might be too late when you’re praying. Pray today!”

“I have to be passionate Honourable Premier; I have to be passionate Acting Governor of these Virgin Islands. Members of the House of Assembly, I have to be passionate, because when governments and kings are in trouble, they call on God for assistance and wisdom,” Pastor Mills said.

“If there is something you can’t do as politicians, whatever you can’t, God can.”

The service also saw scripture readings from Acting Governor, Mrs. Rosalie Adams; Premier, Hon. Dr. D. Orlando Smith; Hon. Myron Walwyn; and Leader of the Opposition, Hon. Julian Fraser.

Prayers and good wishes for the Territory, its people, projects and the government came from leaders of churches around the Territory.
