(PLTM) - VG Spartans finally got some points on the scoreboard for their recent win against Island Stars in this year’s BVI Cricket Association and FLOW Superfast LTE 20/20 Cricket League.

In Division One, VG Spartans batted first against the Island Stars and posted a respectable 26 for 7.

Shane Sinclair and Alvin Africa scored 45 and 41 respectively, and Michael Castello hit 33. There were also two wickets each for Kellon Landon and Wayne Phillip.

In reply, the Island Stars were cruising to a second successive victory in the tournament as Dennis ford Brown (36) and Keelan Robin with the only half-century of the game, 54 from six boundaries and 5 sixes, put on 78 for the first wicket in just 6 overs.

However, as VG Spartans brought in Castello into the attack, it dramatically changed the game as he removed both the openers and counted for Gregory James for a single to leave the Island Stars on 102 for 3.

Aaron Dupigny also grabbed 3 wickets and the Island Stars lost their last 7 wickets for 72 runs to be 179 all out.

Elius Phillip hit 21, but seven other batsmen failed to reach double figures. Castello finished 3 for 36, as did Dupigny.

As the games continued, defending champions in the Premier League, The Vincy suffered defeat by the Royal Knights.

In the game, The Vincy was shocked by the Royal Knights, who, thanks to five wickets from Anthony Slowly, ripped through the defending champions to leave them 50 for 5.

It didn’t get any better for The Vincy, who kept losing wickets to rash shots as they managed to reach a measly 115 all out.

Top scorer was Ladesh Talla with 30. Slowly finished with 5 for 33, and both Richard Fredericks and Julian Sinclair picked up two.

The Knights lost two wickets with just 14 on the board, but Joemal Lafleur calmed any nerves with an unbeaten 67 to take his team home for a crucial victory.
