(PLTM) - The audit of the books and activities of the Lions Club of Tortola have been successfully completed by Lions District Governor (DG) Errol Lee, MJF during his weekend visit to the BVI.

DG Lee commended the club for the privilege of having two of its members holding the highest ranking offices in the Multiple Districts of 60A and 60B with clubs from Cayman Islands in the North East Caribbean to Suriname in the South East.

According to the Club, Lion Marvin Grant MJF holds the post of Council Chairman, while Lion Maria Vieira MJF holds the post of Council Secretary/Treasurer.

DG Lee also recognized the works that Tortola Lions together with their sponsoring partners have accomplished in the construction of restroom facilities at both the Noel Lloyd Positive Action Movement Park and the Queen Elizabeth II Park; the donation of an Ultra-Sound machine and an orthopedic bed to Peebles Hospital through the Health Services Authority.

Special words of congratulations were given for the induction of three new members into the club. In this regard the Lions International 100th year Centennial Pins were awarded to sponsoring Lions Newton and Halliday.

Encouraging words were given to the club members as preparations are being finalized for the hosting of the 45th Anniversary Gala Dinner and Fundraiser on Friday 28th April 2017.

Details of this event will be shared in a future joint Press Conference with members of the Lions Club and executives from the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College.

As a member of a Worldwide International Service Organization, the Tortola Lions, in addition to building its own membership, is in the process of recruiting members between the age ranges of 30 to 45 for the formation of a Club Branch.

The key criteria is a willingness to serve the Community in which you live and benefit. In excess of 20 residents have already participated in the first of many orientation processes.
