(PLTM) - A woman suffered the worst fate after catching a ride in Road Town, which turned into her allegedly being assaulted and raped by the driver.

Fire Officer Cuthbert Robinson of Carrot Bay is facing a charge of rape following the incident that occurred on February 21, 2017.

Robinson, 46, a national of Dominica who has been naturalized in the BVI, made an appearance before the Magistrate’s Court yesterday, March 22. Magistrate Ayanna Baptiste-Dabreo presided.

According to the allegations, the court heard that on Tuesday, February 21, sometime after 7:00 pm, the accused picked up the complainant, who was standing in the vicinity of the traffic lights at the James Walter Francis Highway in Road Town.

The female was said to be looking for a ride home and was reportedly assured by Robinson that he was going in her direction and that she should get in.

It was noted that he was driving a grey four door Mazda pick-up truck.

Proceeding on the highway, the court heard that the accused allegedly began touching the female on her breast, stating, “It’s a long time I wanted sex from you and every time I see you I want sex.” The female pushed him away.

Shortly after, the court heard that he stopped at Riteway supermarket and she remained in the car.

Upon his return, the accused allegedly began demanding sex from the female while driving, heading in the direction of Nanny Cay.

It was noted that the woman refused him profusely, all while informing him that she has a boyfriend and reminding him that he is married.

The court heard that he drove into the dark open lot at Nanny Cay and parked next to another parked and unattended vehicle. He then exited the car and went over to the passenger side where she was seated, and allegedly proceeded to fondle her.

The female allegedly told Robinson certain things to apparently discourage him proceeding with any sexual acts. However, he allegedly told her she was lying to him.

Reiterating that she could not have sex with him, the accused allegedly ignored her and proceeded with his actions.

The ordeal came to a stop when the driver of the car parked adjacent to them arrived. This allegedly prompted a rant from the accused about him not being able to finish.

He then drove to the West Side Bakery, where both the accused and the female exited the vehicle, bought bread and then he took her home.

Days after the incident, the court heard that the female confided in her co-workers, who then made the report on her behalf.

Robinson was offered bail in the sum of $70,000 with signed sureties. He was also ordered to sign in at the West End Police Station on Mondays and Wednesdays, and must have no contact with the complainant.

He will make another appearance on May 12, 2017.
