(PLTM) - Kala Penn has secured a bronze medal for team British Virgin Islands, on the first day of competition at the Carifta Games, in Curacao.

The games, which officially began yesterday, April 15, saw Penn reaching the finals of the Triple Jump discipline.

This is the first medal count for the BVI team, who is representing the Territory at the event with a delegation of 27 athletes.

So far, a number of local athletes have already competed, but failed in securing any top placements in the finals, or fell short in making it to the last rounds of their various disciplines.

The competition continues over the course of today and tomorrow.

BVI Platinum News will provide updates on the event and performances of the local athletes.
