Update: Police Investigating Suspected Suicide At Sea

(PLTM) - The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force has launched an investigation into the suspected suicide of a male passenger, on board the cruise ship Norwegian Escape, yesterday, April 19.

Police confirmed that the body of Daniel Godsey, 33, of Tennessee, USA, was recovered from BVI waters.

Investigations revealed that sometime after 3:00 am, the deceased left his room and was later seen on the ship’s closed circuit cameras in mid air, descending towards the water.

He was travelling with his wife at the time of the incident.

Members of the BVI Tourist Board and the Crisis Intervention Team are providing the needed support to the wife of the deceased and the Coroner’s Office has been notified.

Investigations are ongoing.

A male passenger on board the cruise ship Norwegian Escape, died earlier today, April 19, while the ship was at sea, in-transit to the British Virgin Islands.

Public Relations Officer of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Fore, Ms. Diane Drayton confirmed that the passenger died on board the ship.

Circumstances surrounding the sudden death are unknown to BVI Platinum News at this point.

Local police has launched an investigation into the matter.
