Magistrate Court

(PLTM) - Yuli Hodge, native of the Dominican Republic, made an appearance before the Magistrate’s Court in response to several charges, stemming from an incident that occurred on December 18, 2016. Hodge pleaded guilty to the offences of damaging property, and being armed with an offensive weapon. He pleaded not guilty to the offence of assault, occasioning actual bodily harm. According the particulars of the matter, Hodge and the complainant have been in an intimate relationship for some time. On December 18, last year, Hodge’s companion left their home and returned around midnight and joined him in bed. Hodge allegedly began making intimate advances to the woman, who refused all his attempts. The court heard that Hodge journeyed to the bathroom and returned with a scissors. He then pounced on the female and used the scissors to cut her clothes and undergarments off. The woman reportedly struggled with the accused and screamed for help all through the assault. The court heard that Hodge grabbed the female by her neck and slammed her head into the wall several times. Both struggled into the kitchen, where she then armed herself with a knife, which was said to keep distance between the two until police arrived on scene. Hodge was offered bail in the amount of $30,000 and will make another appearance on July 6, to begin trial in this matter.
