(PLTM) - Former Miss BVI contestant, Ms Shaunise Fahie, 31, was among two women arrested and charged in connection with last Thursday's shooting incident, that took place at Nisky Center on St. Thomas, USVI.

However, there was a twist of events today, May 24, when Fahie and the other woman, Desiree Perez, 22, appeared in court for a Rights Hearing.

When contacted, St. Thomas Police Chief, Mr. Jason Marsh told BVI Platinum News that last evening, the women were each advised of their constitutional rights, placed under arrest and charged with first-degree assault, conspiracy, obstruction of justice, aiding and abetting, along with accessory after the fact.

He said that when they appeared before a judge for hearing this morning, the charges were dismissed, where the judge indicated that the police needed to gather more information.

When asked if Fahie remains a person of interest in the shooting, which left one man injured, Marsh said yes.

According to St. Thomas Police, on May 18, 2017 at approximately 10:00 am, citizens called the 911 Emergency Call Center, reporting that a vehicle fired several shots in the area of Nisky Center.

Several other citizens called immediately after and reported that there was a gunshot victim in a vehicle at said location.

When police detectives arrived on the scene, they observed a black man, who appeared to have sustained injuries due to the incident, being transported via ambulance to the Schneider Regional Medical Center Emergency Room.

The detectives later traveled to the hospital and made contact with the man, who they observed had sustained a gunshot wound to his left side. The victim was treated and later released.
