(PLTM) - Police today, June 11, officially charged Lennox Franklyn Da Silva, 52, of Greenland, with murder in relation to the death of his wife.

According to police, last evening they were called to the scene of a domestic violence incident.

"Officers found a woman unresponsive in her apartment, with an apparent stab wound to the neck. She was pronounced dead at the scene."

Da Silva, a native of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, was subsequently taken into custody.

The Coroner’s Office has been notified.

Detectives are grateful for the information already provided by members of the community in relation to this case and would be appreciative for any additional information as they continue to collect evidence in this case.

De Silva is scheduled to appear in the Magistrate’s Court tomorrow afternoon.

The Greenland community was left in shock this evening, Saturday, June 10, after a woman was murdered, reportedly by her companion.

Dead is S. Nelson, of Jamaica. Information suggests that her throat was slit.

According to information, which is sketchy at the moment, the incident is suspected to have stemmed from a domestic dispute.

BVI Platinum News understands that the man, who is said to be a native of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, was at the scene when police arrived. He is now in police custody.

Police briefly stated, "Police attended the scene of a homicide of a female this evening, at a home in the Greenland area."

According to police, further details are not available at this time.

Investigations are ongoing.

This is the sixth murder for the year.
