(PLTM) - Teams from the Bregado Flax Educational Centre and the Robinson O’Neal Primary School in Virgin Gorda, will go head to head, to secure the last spot in the finals of the Double Elimination Primary School Softball Tournament, hosted by the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports. The winner of the game, scheduled for June 21, will go up against Ebenezer Thomas Primary School on June 24, for the championship title of the league. The two teams played and won several games against other Virgin Gorda based teams, to make it in the semi-finals of the second leg of the tournament. Robinson O’Neal recorded a 7-2 win against Cornerstone, while Bregado Flax defeated Ciboney Primary with a 7-0 lead. With both winners meeting, Robinson O’Neal walked away with another victory, with a score of 5-4. In another matchup, fully aware that a loss would send Robinson O’Neal straight to the finals, Bregado Flax came with a vengeance, defeating their rivals with a 17-13 lead. The winner of their third and final match will move on to the finals. Bregado Flax’s coach, Jackiesha Vanterpool said, “The game was awesome. We came and had in mind that we were going to win and we did it. We have to continue to work together, play hard and we’re going to get it done.” Robinson O’Neal’s coach, Akima Powell said, “I knew after we beat them the first time, I knew they were going to come back with a vengeance, and they did come back with a vengeance, but it was still good.” Powell said, “We’re looking towards meeting them again and we’ll see which is the better team.” A team from Anegada, who was scheduled to play in the zone, pulled out two days before the competition.
