(PLTM) - Jevon Reid, 28, who was found in possession of 40 grams of cannabis, told the Magistrate’s Court that he uses the drug when he is in pain.
During a court appearance last week, Reid explained that he has steel in his foot that pains him from time to time.
“I use it for stress and for my foot. I have a steel in my foot, so now and again when the pain gets real bad, I use it,” he related.
Reid is charged with possession of a controlled drug.
According to the particulars of the matter, on January 6, officers executed a search warrant at his home, in his presence.
Prior to the search, Reid allegedly told the officers, “I have about a pound of weed in there, will I be penalized for it?”
During the search, officers allegedly found weed in a black container on a chair in the living room, along with a transparent bag of the drug, found in the top drawer of a chest of drawers.
At this time, he allegedly told police, “That’s some more of the weed, more is in the bottom drawer.”
More of the drug was also found in another location of his home.
He was granted bail in the sum of $40,000, signed surety, and was ordered to attend drug counselling.
Reid will return to court on November 10.
