(PLTM) - Nigel Prince is facing a drug charge, after local officers allegedly found and confiscated marijuana, taken from an unlicensed vehicle he was driving.

The 43 year-old BVIslander, who resides in West End, made an appearance at the Magistrate’s Court to respond to charges of possession of a controlled drug and driving an unlicensed vehicle. He pleaded not guilty for both.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred earlier this year.

According to court records, on January 31, in the Pockwood Pond area, officers observed the accused driving a vehicle that did not bear the necessary DMV sticker, which would indicate that the vehicle is licensed.

After being pulled over, the officers decided to conduct a routine search on the vehicle.

He was questioned whether or not he had anything illegal in the vehicle and he replied “no”.

During the search, the officers found dime bags filled with the drug. Under caution, Prince told the officer, “It’s weed, I am a smoker.”

Prince will return to court on October 11.
