(PLTM) - The reigning Miss British Virgin Islands, Erika Creque, has departed the Territory for Antigua and Barbuda, to compete in the 56th staging of the Miss Jaycees International Queen Pageant. Creque left the Territory early this morning, July 27. Erika will enter the pageant with some extra drive, having just been announced the winner of the pageant’s People’s Choice Award, this morning. The competition was held over social media platform. Miss BVI managed to record the most hits. Meanwhile, at the competition slated for this Sunday, July 30, Creque will compete in a number of segments, including introduction, swimwear, talent, evening wear and interview. Miss BVI will go up against delegates from Antigua and Barbuda, Anguilla, Trinidad & Tobago, St. Kitts, St. Lucia, Nevis, United States Virgin Islands, Barbados, United States of America, St. Maarten, Dominica, Grenada, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and St. Lucia. Speaking earlier with BVI Platinum News, the beauty stated that the presence of the Territory will be felt in Antigua, through her participation. “I will make BVI’s presence felt by putting on a show they will never forget. Doing my best and showcasing what the BVI has to offer, through my appearances in various segments.” She disclosed that by participating in the pageant, she hopes to ensure that others will follow in her footsteps, by continuing to represent the Territory not only in international pageants, but across the region as well.

“I decided to enter this year’s Miss Jaycees pageant because we did not enter last year, and we had quite a good representation the year before (2015) with Ms Jaynene Jno Lewis. So I want to make sure that the BVI continues to participate in regional pageants, showcasing what we have to offer.” Unfortunately, Adorya Baly did not participate in the pageant last year for undisclosed reasons. Erika noted that this will be her final pageant during her reign. She is set to give up her crown on August 6. In January 2017, she represented the Territory in the 65th annual Miss Universe Pageant, in Manila, Philippines.
