(PLTM) - Eighteen boys have been successfully selected, as official players for the British Virgin Islands National Under 15 football team. The team was revealed at a press conference earlier today, July 31, at the BVI Football Association's (BVIFA) headquarters in Road Town.
The team, captained by Guillaume Parkins, is made up of Alexander Keen, Jalen Prentice, Justin Smith, Kahil Farrington, Jake Forbes, Declan Rose, Alejandro Santos, Miguel Marshall, Luka Chalwell, Marcus Butler, Tyler Forbes, Charles Medway, Bailey Row, Denvin Jones, Giovanni Grant, Shamoi Dore and Mekhi Walters.
The eighteen players came about from an elimination process, which began with 32 young players, who were all engaged in a series of drills and games since March 2017.
The team’s first chance to represent the Territory will be at the CONCACAF Under 15 championships in Bradenton, Florida, from August 11 through to the 19.
The league will feature teams from 40 of the 41 CONCACAF member countries, from North and Central America and the Caribbean.
The team, who is registered in Division C of the competition, will go up against teams from Anguilla, Turks and Caicos and Montserrat.
Meanwhile, three young football stars have been invited to participate in the AFC Bournemouth Camp in the UK, from August 21-23. The players are Azarni Callwood, Ryan Lettsome and Luka Chalwell.
The boys were selected by two coaches from Champion Sports, who facilitated a week-long course held during the summer. The course, which was hosted by BVIFA, saw over 60 young boys and girls.
The camp, which is by invitation only, will see the boys engage in a variety of drills and practice session.
While there, they are expected to play a game on August 26.
