BVI Athletes Honoured In London

(PLTM) - BVI athletes competing at the IAAF World Championships in London, were honoured at BVI House at a reception on 10th August.

According to the BVI House, family, friends, students and government officials gathered at BVI House to celebrate the performances of 400m hurdler, Kyron McMaster; 400m sprinter, Ashley Kelly; and long jumper Chantel Malone, during the competition.

They also recognised the contribution made to athletes by Mr. Rey O’Neal, who had earlier received a lifetime achievement award from IAAF.

In recognition of their achievements, the athletes and Mr. O’Neal were presented with a BVI London Office commemorative coin, emblazoned with the Vigilate Crest and BVI House.

The athletes and Mr. O’Neal thanked the BVI community in London and their families and supporters at home for their support.

Remarks were made by Deputy Premier and Minister for Natural Resources and Labour, Dr. Hon. Kedrick Pickering, President of the BVI Athletics Association, Mr. Steve Augustine, President of the BVI Olympic Committee, Mr. Ephraim Penn, and BVI London Office Director, Benito Wheatley.
