Beloved Coach Dag Samuels Among Fatalities

(PLTM) - Xavier 'Dag' Samuels, one of the Territory’s longest serving coaches, is among the persons who died during the passage of Hurricane Irma in the BVI on September 6, 2017.

Condolences are pouring in as news of his passing was made known.

Governor Gus Jaspert and Premier Hon. Dr. D. Orlando Smith have confirmed that there were fatalities, but did not confirm the number of persons who lost their lives to Hurricane Irma.

Samuels is known for his long standing work as a track coach, and is also the coach for international hurdling champ, BVIslander Kyron McMaster.

[photoIISt. Kitts and Nevis Track and Field has sent out condolences to Samuels' family.

"We will forever miss him. His work is an inspiration and will continue through those he has touched. Our love and sympathies are with the family and friends of veteran coach Xavier 'Dag' Samuels."

The association noted that Samuels was an IAAF Level 5 Chief Coach and a close friend of the association.
