(PLTM) - The pace of ghut clearing and debris management is being accelerated, as the BVI prepares for Hurricane Maria, which is expected to impact the Territory between tomorrow and Wednesday.

According to the Department of Disaster Management (DDM), gusty winds could blow debris from Hurricane Irma around, creating dangerous conditions.

To this end, residents are encouraged to secure loose items in and around their homes.

"Fast tracking the ghut and debris clearing process is critical as Maria is also expected to produce total rainfall accumulations of 6 to 12 inches, with isolated maximum amounts of 20 inches across the British Virgin Islands," Governor Gus Jaspert has stated.
