(PLTM) - The BVI government has announced that it has begun the registration process for the Household Assistance Programme, aimed at persons who were badly affected by Hurricane Irma.
Minister for Health and Social Development, Hon. Ronnie Skelton said the initiative will support the basic needs of vulnerable households, through various forms of aids.
Eligible groups include households that have low to no income, single-parent, women with children ages five years and under, the elderly who are 65 and older, and the disabled.
The registration process will be led by the Social Development Department, in collaboration with the BVI Red Cross, British Red Cross, the Department of International Development and Caritas Antilles.

On Anegada, registration may be done at The Anegada Community Library and on Jost Van Dyke, registration may be done at the JVD Police Customs/Police Station.
The Ministry of Health and Social Development says officers will be dispatched into some communities to register those who are unable to visit the registration stations.
The public is advised to monitor the Facebook pages of the Government of the Virgin Islands, the BVI Red Cross and the Department of Disaster Management. Persons may also call the Social Development hotline at the following numbers: 468-9377, 468-9375 and 468-9352 for any questions or concerns on registration.
