Residents continue to dump bulk waste in an indiscriminate manner at dumpsters, especially at the bin located at the junction of Canaan and Free Bottom roads.
The above photograph was taken yesterday, January 10 and it is quite evident that the appeal from the Solid Waste Department to take bulky waste directly to the incinerator at Pockwood Pond has been ignored by some residents.
Late last year, a resident speaking at the Fifth District meeting held at the Sir Rupert Briercliffe Hall, pleaded with residents to stop dumping discarded household items at public bins.
According to the resident, the items are left in full view of the public for days before they are removed. All of this happens despite a sign posted by the Solid Waste Department which says 'No dumping of bulky waste in this area'.
