Police have been called to investigate what appears to be the drowning of a female tourist in the area of Bubbly Pool, located at the eastern end of Jost Van Dyke.
BVI Platinum News understands that the Virgin Islands Search and Rescue (VISAR) were called to the location shortly after 4:00 pm yesterday, March 9, 2012.
According to the Police Information Office, the incident occurred sometime around 3:15 pm.
The Police gave the woman's name as Elissa Bradley, 35, a United States citizen.
Further reports indicated that the woman was among a party of six when she encountered difficulties and was washed out to sea. Her body was later recovered.
BVI Platinum News understands that her father was among the group swimming in the area at the time the mishap occurred.
There have been a number of drowning incidents in the past months involving tourists. Police and tourism officials continue to warn tourists to observe beach signs and exercise great caution when swimming.

This is not good publicity for the tourism industry
Its not about better lifeguards..suggesting incompetence...but more about wisdom in swimming in certain areas with undertows, obeying the warnings and assigning more lifeguards to areas prone to dangers....
