U.P's Cineplex Unveils Skating Rink

U.P's Cineplex has added to its entertainment offerings with the opening of its skating rink and ballroom facilities at the cineplex building in Road Town. Dozens have already experienced the skating.

The top room will also be used for corporate parties, balls and conferences.

U.P's already features multiple movie theaters, a bowling alley, food court and a sports bar.

Proprietor, Elton Leonard is working along with Neil Blyden of Neil Blyden and Associates.

The intensions was all good to have a skating ring, but they needed to take a good look at how skating rings are built....no entrance and exit...and non skaters walking on the ring with shoes will eventually damage the ring....skaters need to all skate in on direction and EXIT corners every few... more

I went with a group last night and the children had so much fun! It was fun for the adults too but the safety hazards out shadowed it all at times. As stated, the rails are necessary. You can't just clear off a floor, provide skates, and call it a proper skating rink. I hope the owner reads these posts and makes the necessary safety precautions before some gets hurt. (Was there a building inspection?) It's nice to offer these entertainment options for the public but be... more

Hmm! Tiny cones aren't going to do anything to enclose the skaters, some amateur skater is going to roll right past it and out those windows!!!

Where is the railing? They would never approve this in the States, not only because of the windows, but to keep others surrounding the rink from being injured. This is an accident waiting to happen.

1st things first... Where are the rails?!?!?! 2nd Why you you have to pay $5 to go up in the elevator and you already have to pay $10 to skate. When you do the maths you paying more money than you have to see a Movie! Talk about a quick buck! We'll see how long this lasts when people really think... more
