Police are investigating a robbery which occurred early this morning, October 8 at a bar in Baughers Bay.
According to police, the proprietor stated that he was about to close the bar around 2:00 am when two masked men entered, dressed in black clothing and brandishing handguns.
The assailants demanded money and took the night's taking from the register. One assailant then ripped a gold chain valued $500 from the proprietor's neck and left the scene.
Neither the proprietor nor the customers that were at the bar at the time were harmed.
According to police, the armed Immediate Response Unit which was at the scene shortly after the incident is continuing their search for possible suspects.
The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force is encouraging members of the public to do their part in reducing the number of guns in the Territory. Persons who know of individuals in possession of guns can report this information to any police officer and any station in the Territory. This information will greatly assist the officers now dedicated to the task of removing these weapons from the Territory.
Persons are also encouraged to use the untraceable, anonymous Crimestoppers Miami hotline number 800-(TIPS) or 800-8477. No names or numbers are requested and only the information provided is passed on to local police detectives.
