Staff arriving for work at the Tortola Memorial Davis Funeral Home at Purcell Estate this morning, July 6, were greeted with a ransacked office and other signs that a break-in had occurred overnight.
When contacted, proprietor, Minister Robert M. Wright said that he did not have a comment because a Police investigation was underway and he did not want to interfere with any leads investigators might be pursuing.
"I can tell you that we are open for business as usual," Minister Wright stated.
BVI Platinum News understands that officers of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force visited the location this morning. BVI Platinum News could not immediately confirm if any cash or items were stolen from the property.
This latest incident clearly shows that no business is safe as in the past, there have been reported break-ins at Government offices, law firms, pharmacies, gift shops, bars and even churches.
The RVIPF has been continuously reminding business owners to be security conscious and refrain from leaving cash at their place of business.
Who's next? What's next?
Not even in St. Thomas has there ever been a robbery of a funeral home.
My gosh, even the dead cannot have their final place of rest without these types of disturbances.
It's truly a sad day for the country.
