Fungi Music welcomed workers to the Claudette 'Boopie' Smith Festiville during the lunchtime break yesterday, August 1.
Booth owners provided the food and drinks, Lashing Dogs entertained musically and cultural icon, Eileene Parsons engaged in storytelling.
Her story of choice was 'Fixing Papers', which described a practice in the Territory where women marry to attain immigration status.
Parsons explained that this was a practice by some BVIslanders who went to the neighboring USVI to work years ago.
The lunchtime performances are part of renewed efforts by the Virgin Islands Festivals and Fairs Committee to feature more cultural elements during the emancipation celebrations.
The committee has organized lunchtime activities for the entire week. Today's activities will feature more fungi music.
