There were high expectations for the performance of Mr. Vegas' smash hit 'Bruk It Down', but the Jamaican singer showed his versatility during his more than one hour performance at the Moviene Fahie Festiville last evening, August 7.

Mr. Vegas was the headline performer for last evening's show and appeared to relish every moment on stage.

During his time on stage, he addressed the criticisms from former U.S. sprinter, Carl Lewis against Jamaican sprint sensation, Usain Bolt. According to Mr. Vegas, Bolt represents the entire Caribbean and he dedicated 'I Am Bless' to the former U.S. track star.

During that stretch, Mr. Vegas encouraged persons to go to church and performed several gospel songs, including 'Oh When The Saints Go Marching In'.

He performed many of the songs that helped him to build an international song base over more than a decade of music. Some of the songs he shuffled through were 'Heads High', 'Sucky Ducky' and 'No Friend From them'.

He also dished out several reggae covers, including songs from Bob Marley, Beenie Man and Buju Banton. He spoke about freedom for Banton and Jamaican dancehall singer, Busy Signal, both stars currently in jail.

By the time he performed 'Bruck It Down', the audience had already grown thick and many surged to the front of the stage to get a glimpse of the 'Bruk It Down' dancers.

Mr. Vegas also refereed a dance off for $300 cash to the best female dancer to the song.

Prior to Vegas' appearance, the audience received a healthy dose of soca music from St. Vincent duo, Fire Empress and Mr. Fusion. Fire Empress inserted herself into the crowd and was even carried on the shoulder of a patron.

Grenada's Lavaman also added a few soca songs.

Home-grown performances came from Heritage, Capable, Ritical and Shine-I.
