Despite a late start, revelers delivered to a large crowd which lined the streets of East End/Long Look for the annual festival parade this afternoon, August 8.

Like previous years, some of the troupes were a repeat of Monday's Road Town August Festival Parade, with a few additions.

There were also the usual well choreographed dances, which were much to the delight of the crowd; mocko jumbies; Delta Petroleum; and recently crowned queens, including Miss BVI 2012 Sharie de Castro.

Moviene Fahie and her donkey led the parade.

This year 'Limping Jack' had a different message; one against gun crime with a photograph of Keri Harrigan, who was gunned down execution style in Long Look in March of 2011.

The parade ended at the Moviene Fahie Festiville where Razor Blades, Sweet-Ta-Band and Pumpa and De Unit Band will provide entertainment in the village.

I do not understand what is going on. I was in EE that was a waste of time. These pictures I am seeing on the net I did not see in EE. All these Items did not even go into the village. I am not saying it have to stop, a parade is not it. Maybe having a beach outting for people to attend.... more

So let me get this straight. East End and Long Look continue to insist on having their own mini festival and its poorly attended?! While I understand the community's need for their own identity and keeping their traditions strong, this just doesn't make good fiscal sense!

It is not so much that it needs to get cancel. It just needs some tweaking. Change in committee members and something much more off setting than maybe a parade.

You all always have to make everything political. These festival committees are volunteer things, and politics shouldn't play a part. Now from the money perspective, yes, cause you need value for money and then hope that the people managing it doing it well. Waste ah money with all them... more

For once you say something with sense. The locals only want to make the money out of these festivities, nothing else. They only care about expats when it suits them. They don't mind expats being the majority supporting our Festival because it means locals making money. But anything else for... more

All these additional high costing events need to be cancelled or scaled down big time. We are all from the BVI and the capital is Road Town... I don't understand why each town feel they need to have something seperate as if we in a different country. All that money could have been used to fix the... more
