A man was taken to the Peebles Hospital after the vehicle he was travelling in collided with another vehicle in the Duff's Bottom area late last evening, August 9.

When BVI Platinum News arrived minutes following the accident, sometime after 11:00 pm, fire officers were already on the scene awaiting Police and the ambulance.

The driver of a red pickup PV 23486, who gave his name as Courtney, briefly told BVI Platinum News that he was coming from the direction of Road Town when he saw the other vehicle, PY 102 which came from the direction of West End, swerving in his lane.

He stated that even though he tried to avoid the vehicle, his vehicle was whiplashed, sending it into the bottom of the hillside on the other lane.

The other vehicle, which came from the westerly direction, then slammed into the sea wall area.

It is believed that the injured man was a passenger of the red pickup.

Police Officers who arrived shortly after were seen speaking with both drivers and the injured passenger was taken to the Peebles Hospital by the ambulance.

Investigations are continuing.

It's apparent that the driver coming from the westerly direction had fallen asleep, hence the swerving of his vehicle. The driver of the red pickup should have honked his horn loudly and long. That would have caused the other driver to wake up.
