The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) is continuing with its operations to crackdown on drugs and drug operators on the streets. To this end, so far for the year officers have uncovered a total of ten marijuana plantations with over 1,200 plants seized.
According to Police, last week Thursday, an operation mounted by the Special Investigation Unit and the RVIPF Task Force uncovered two large marijuana plantations in the Hannah's Estate area.
Officers of both teams followed a suspicious track leading through the bushes at the rear of the community and found a total of 264 cannabis plants and seedlings ranging from 1 to 4 feet. The plants were uprooted and seized.
No one was found on the property at the time and no arrests have yet been made.
In recent months, Police have conducted a number of operations leading to the confiscation of illegal substances and arrests. Acting on intelligence, in May Police officers conducted a search in the Hope Hill area where they confiscated a number of grown marijuana plants. Over 100 plants were uprooted on a 1/4 acre plot. Police then transported the plants to the Road Town Police Station.
