At least two sets of road works have commenced in Johnsons Ghut and Baughers Bay, including the construction of a retaining wall.
Hon. Alvera Maduro-Caines, Sixth District Representative said the retaining wall which is being built at the additional road which leads to Fort Hill from Baughers Bay, is much needed. She said the works are being done at a cost of just over $10,000.00.
"A retaining wall is being erected on the lower side of that road to prevent vehicles from going over that precipice which has happened many times," she stated.
In relation to the works at the Johnsons Ghut hill area, the District Representative stated that the road is being graded and paved to better facilitate homeowners in getting to their homes.
"Presently they have to park on the streets and walk a distance to get to their homes."
This project is being done at a cost of $23,000.00.
The works on both projects began on Wednesday, September 19.
Meanwhile, the District Representative has stated that Government is still working with persons in connection with the exit road through Baughers Bay and also redefining plans for the Stone Haven/K-Marks flooding situation.
Despite the works done and others underway, Hon. Maduro-Caines has acknowledged that there is a lot more to be done in the district, which cannot be achieved in one year.
