Johnathon Freeman, also known as Mitch, was today reprimanded and discharged by Magistrate Tamia Richards for threatening to kill a customer at Richard's Bar on Flemming Street in March.

Freeman, a resident of Long Bush, was charged with threatening language and being armed with an offensive weapon.

Magistrate Richards said Freeman already spent six months in prison due to the fact that no one came to post bail for him. She said given his guilty plea and his mental disabilities, she will convict, reprimand and discharge him on both charges.

During his time at the prison, Freeman underwent mental evaluation and was receiving medication.

The Magistrate said his lawyer had stated that every effort is being made to ensure Freeman gets the best treatment and prison is not the place for him.

He was represented by Attorney at Law Ruthilia Maximea.

On March 6, the complainant Ramzair Bazaar was at Richard's Bar located upstairs People's Shoe Store when Freeman came into the restaurant with a machete and began to slam it on the table where the complainant was sitting.

He told the complainant, "[Expletive] you. I am going to kill you."

Freeman then pointed the machete in front of the man's face and according to the complainant, it was very close and he became fearful for his life as Freeman was threatening him.

The complainant moved backwards from Freeman and telephoned the Road Town Police Station where a report was made.

Police Officers responded to the scene and Freeman, who was still in the area, was cautioned and told about the allegation.

Following further questioning, Freeman allegedly took the officers where he hid the machete behind the alley way. He was then arrested.
