This year's Tourism Month activities will be held under the theme, "Your BVI Needs You" and the BVI Tourist Board (TB) has promised a wide range of exciting events for both residents and visitors.
According to the TB, Tourism Month, which is celebrated in November, is integral to the Government's tourism development as it provides a venue for persons to become familiar with the tourism industry, the BVI tourism product and the diverse experiences available throughout the Territory.
Today, October 19, the TB stated that the entire community and visitors to the BVI will have numerous opportunities to experience Nature's Little Secrets through hospitality, dining, photography, boating, film, environmental and cultural activities.
"We have designed a Tourism Month to entice foodies, lure adventurers, challenge photographers, empower youth, push green initiatives and stimulate an overall interest in our vast tourism product. Through these various events we aim to engage the public on what the BVI offers as a destination and drive wide participation from both the population and our visitors," Malcia Smith Hamilton, Acting Director of the Tourist Board stated.
Smith-Hamilton added that the festivities planned for Tourism Month offer something unique for each age group and interest.
"We encourage everyone to get involved and celebrate tourism with us during the month of November as your BVI needs you," the Acting Director stated.
The Tourism Month Calendar of Events includes Tourism Industry Meeting, Church Service, Tourism Family Feud, BVI Boat Show, Table Setting Competition on Virgin Gorda, Photo Competition, Film Workshop, Interagency Regatta and Round Tortola Race, BVI Restaurant Week, Greening Tourism Workshops, Karibik Trophy Regatta, People's Choice Awards, Tourist Board Open Houses on Tortola and Virgin Gorda, and a Grand Finale and Awards Ceremony.
