The BVI Health Services Authority (BVIHSA) has confirmed previous reports by BVI Platinum News that Mrs. Darlene Carty Baptiste has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Authority.
The BVIHSA in a press release announced that Mrs. Carty Baptiste along with the Authority's board members, it's executive management Team and key personnel responsible for the operation of the clinics will meet with residents of the East End/Long Look Community at the next community outreach meeting to promote healthy dialogue.
According to the BVIHSA, Mrs. Carty Baptiste will be available to participate in the dialogue which takes place at the East End/Long Look Community Centre starting at 7:30 pm on Thursday, November 1.
The meeting is part of phase 1 of the BVIHSA Community Outreach Campaign. The primary focus of the meeting is to improve services offered to the residents of the 7th and 8th Districts and all stakeholders are invited to initiate dialogue and discuss the challenges and issues related to this community.
The BVIHSA also confirmed BVI Platinum News' report that Mrs. Carty Baptiste, a native of the USVI, commenced her appointment as CEO on Monday, October 1, 2012 and comes with over 20 years of experience in the health, business and education fields.
She has served both Government and Private Sector clients throughout the United States Virgin Islands, Anguilla, the United States, the South Pacific and Europe, managing projects that involve all phases of administration and management of up to 700 employees with funding of up to 67 million dollars.
Mrs. Carty Baptiste was a Board of Trustees scholarship recipient at Howard University in Washington, D.C. where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Radiologic Medicine with a Minor in Business Administration.
She also holds a Master of Arts Degree in Education with a concentration in Guidance and Counseling from the University of the Virgin Islands. She has a Certificate in Government from Harvard University and also has a Certificate as an Emergency Medicine Technician.
Mrs. Carty Baptiste, a former USVI Health Commissioner and more recently, Chief Executive Officer of the Health Authority of Anguilla, has been contracted for two years. She took over from Dr. Ronald Georges, whose contract came to an end earlier this year. BVI Platinum News understands that Georges opted not to renew his contract.
