The Hannah Hill Reservoir is being prepared to return to service, restoring support for water distribution to Sea Cows Bay, Palestina and Pock Wood Pond, the Government has announced.
The Water and Sewerage Department said the reservoir has been repaired, tested for leaks and sanitised. It will now be emptied and flushed “to remove any residual water” before being refilled and reconnected to the distribution system.
Director Lyndon Hodge said flushing was scheduled to begin on Monday, 28 September. The remaining work, including refilling and recommissioning, is expected to take about 48 to 72 hours.
Minister for Communications and Works Kye Rymer said water would be released for consumption only after operational checks and public health testing confirm it meets potable water standards.
“This work marks an important step toward resolving the longstanding water-supply challenges experienced by residents and end users in the affected communities,” Rymer said. He thanked the public for its patience and said further updates would follow.
The project is among the ministry’s priorities being carried out through the Water and Sewerage Department after water supply challenges led to water being declared a national critical priority.
